Government Takes Over Family Decisions (Townhall.com) July 16, 2012

Government—which has done such a great job on the economy and education—now wants to tell you how to manage your children. 

The Delaware legislature passed a bill making it a crime to injure a child, including the infliction of pain.  And there’s no exception for a parent who spanks as a form of discipline. 

Meanwhile, a court in Germany has ruled that circumcising a child inflicts impermissible damage, even with parental permission and for religious reasons.

I think we’re all for protecting children, but not by taking away a parent’s primary say about reasonable discipline or following religious traditions practiced for thousands of years.  No wonder the Founders feared the passions of the people might get carried away and need to be tempered.

Let’s hope for just that in Germany and even Delaware.
