Americans, the results aren’t pretty. Can you chant with pride, “We’re Number Nine?”

In its 15th year, this study shows the U.S. declining once again. You could understand Hong Kong or Singapore being high on the list, but falling behind Canada and Denmark, or finishing just ahead of Chile?

The U.S. keeps losing ground in major categories: tax rates, government spending and excessive regulation. As our national debt again reaches record levels, and we keep adding burdens such as healthcare, we look more like European socialists. When we have a crisis we overreact with more regulation such as Sarbanes-Oxley or, the new financial reform bill.

We may still be the home of the brave, but sadly we are less and less the land of the free.
