I find it interesting when a bill passed overwhelmingly by both parties in
Congress and signed by the President suddenly becomes unconstitutional 14 years later when one federal judge declares it so.
The federal Defense of Marriage Act, passed overwhelmingly in 1996 and signed by President Clinton has now been declared in violation of the equal protection clause of the Constitution by a federal judge in Boston.
President Obama has been on both sides of this one—in the campaign he said he believes in traditional marriage, but now he says the law should be repealed to protect gay families.
The courts are out of bounds. Social issues should be decided by the people through their elected representatives, not by lawyers sitting on benches in black robes.
